Orangutan Footprint was founded by Jhony and Dino, two childhood friends born and raised in Bukit Lawang, on the edge of Gunung Leuser National Park.
We did not come to the jungle as visitors — we grew up here.
The rainforest was our playground, our classroom, and our guide. From an early age, we learned to understand its rhythms: when to walk, when to listen, and when to step back. Long before we became guides, the forest shaped our way of life.
Orangutans do not leave obvious footprints on the forest floor. Their real traces exist above us in broken branches, moving treetops, and the quiet moments deep inside the jungle.
This idea became the heart of Orangutan Footprint.
For us, a footprint is not about marks in the soil or on the floor.
It represents presence without disturbance, memory without harm, and respect for a world that does not belong to us.
Every trek we lead follows strict ethical principles: no feeding, no touching, and no disturbing wildlife. We guide small groups and move at the pace of the forest, allowing nature to reveal itself naturally.
When you walk with us, you are not chasing animals.
You are following the quiet traces of the wild, guided by people who were born from this land and raised by its forest.
With Orangutan Footprint, your journey becomes more than an adventure it becomes a connection to nature, heritage, and the true spirit of the Sumatran jungle.
“Follow the Footprint.
Every journey leaves a trace.
Choose how far you want to follow the
Orangutan Footprint.”
